Change you Notice
When we come to the saving grace of Jesus, for myself personally, He saved me from addiction to substances and alcohol; I need to remember that my “success was not the result of my strength, or human strength or my ingenuity, but it was a fruit of the Holy Spirit’s power.” (CliffsNotes, NLT Recovery Bible, 2017)
Because if anyone truly knew how my life was before; the losses, abuse, addictions, pain, and so much more, just too much to name here…. going from feeling suicidal every day, angry every day, and numbing it every day and trying to end my pain in the hell I was in, so many times did I try, (He saved me every time, because I have a PURPOSE)
I began to heal when I stopped blaming others, accepted responsibility for my actions, and took accountability for my choices after accepting Jesus into my heart.
Over the past 3 years, I have seen more and more of the fruits of the spirit in my life.
“The best way to verify if we are truly committed to God is to see how it affects our daily lives.” (CliffsNotes, NLT Recovery Bible, 2017) God promises wonderful blessings when we are committed to Him in our recovery.
I've stopped drinking, smoking, and other habits to honor God and reflect Jesus in my actions. I believe being consistent helps me better support others without hypocrisy.
Recovery isn't just about looking at yourself and noticing what you've done wrong or what needs to change. It's important to take a good, honest look at your actions and choices, but that's just the first step. True recovery means you use what you learn about yourself to actually make changes and do the right thing moving forward. In other words, recognizing your mistakes should lead you to take positive steps to fix them and improve your life.
This falls into obeying God, which “proves that we trust His program to the point of shaping our lives around it. This is the kind of faith we need for genuine spirituality, and recovery.” (CliffsNotes, NLT Recovery Bible, 2017)
You will face temptations, and trials and circumstances that are beyond your ability to control, but that is where God comes in again (you will start to notice God in so many things) you have to trust that No matter what you’ve done, if you sincerely repent (turn around) if you change, and come back to God, you can move the One who moves the world!!!!!!! So, Trust God and say, “I don’t know how God is going to do it, but I know He will do it.
When you know and believe with all your heart and soul, that God is truly on your side, it truly doesn’t matter who isn’t, because “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? (Romans 8:31)
